“To improve is to change; to be perfect is to change often.”
– Winston Churchill
Have you ever gone to bed hungry? I have not, but unfortunately, many people experience that. I started learning about food scarcity and poverty when I was eight years old through volunteering at the Houston Food Bank. I don’t know what it feels like to need shelter, food, or support. My parents gave me all those things. My continuous work at the food bank inspired my decision to be in the environmental industry. I currently live in a neighborhood that can be considered a food desert because of the lack of fresh food. I plan to combat that problem by developing ways to grow more food organically in shorter periods.

Volunteering at the Houston Food Bank is still one of my favorite things to do. It has helped me decide to work on eradicating child hunger through science.
My family volunteers together at church. We are preparing for our annual bazaar counting tickets. Below we are donating care packages at a senior citizen facility.
